I dream a world where man
No other man will scorn,
Where love will bless the earth
And peace its paths adorn
I dream a world where all
Will know sweet freedom's way,
Where greed no longer saps the soul
Nor avarice blights our day.
A world I dream where black or white,
Whatever race you be,
Will share the bounties of the earth
And every man is free,
Where wretchedness will hang its head
And joy, like a pearl,
Attends the needs of all mankind-
Of such I dream, my world!
I think this poem has a few different meanings. Langston Hughes wanted the world to be a place where there are no race issues. Where people are not slaves and have to suffer. Everybody will know what freedom is. Where love is all around and everybody cares for everyone. The world is full of peace where there are no wars or big problems. A place where people are not greedy. People are not always worried about money. Where people are not so materialistic. Not always worried about tryinr to have better things then other people. A place where people can lend a helping hand and not want something back in return. People would be thankful of what they have and not want what other people have. You should always be proud of yourself and what your doing. Everything that you have done all the things you have accomplished.
Sure we all want world peace. A place where everybody gets along. Where there are no fighting and wars. But its a small possibiliy that it will happen. Not everyone cares if we have world peace. They just care about there lifes and thats it. A lot of the people dont care about the big problems. I think if more people cared about the problems it would help. If more people helped to try and solve problems they wouldnt be so big.
